My name is Sabine Harding, and together with my husband William; I dedicate most of my days to support EMRO: the Egyptian Mau Rescue Organization (WHATIS EMRO?). It all began with my passion for Ancient Egypt linked with an unconditional love for cats and animals in general. Upon graduating college I plan on being an Egyptologist so I had some knowledge on the cats to begin with. Having a cat for 10 years myself and forced to find a new one after moving to the states with my husband (and did not want to put my old Lucie through all this stress, or separate her from the places and people she is used to). I started debating whether or not to get an Egyptian Mau. These beautiful, ancient and majestic cats have been fascinating me ever since I learned about them. Not only because their stunning appearance, but also their amazing traits, such as their intelligence, dignity and fidelity towards their "human". The only hindrance was that I most likely would have had to acquire them by a breeder, but with overflowing shelters and thousand of suffering cats who are desperately waiting for a new home, that was simply out of the question for me.  So, for this reason, I started searching the internet for shelter homepages and adoptable cats, hoping to find an Egyptian Mau among them.  Thusly, I came across EMRO and was immediately impressed by their ideas, goals and efforts to save the straying and ailing Maus from the streets of Cairo/Egypt. Not long after my first visit on their web site, I fell undyingly in love with two sweet, 4 month old kittens, and while waiting for my adoption applications to get approved and thus, talking and getting to know Gloria, one of the EMRO founders, I decided I can and will do everything in my power to support this organization in rescuing those magnificent cats. I am in the process of adopting three of these kittens and I am currently sponsoring one. So I know that this is something that is worth spending time on.

My husband William just came out of the US army.  He started his own business as soon as he got out.  He is a web designer and his first job was EMRO. He has dedicated most of his time to helping make EMRO the best web site on the internet.  He loves computers and he loves to help out animals.

This website (EMRO-Florida), which my husband designed, is one of the ways I chose to help. With it, I try to make more people aware of EMRO in order to find more potential adopters, sponsors or donators, but also to organize pet escorts to the East Coast and Southeast America to make it possible for owners, living in this area to welcome their new feline family members home as soon as possible.

Although EMRO has a decent number of supporters already, there is still a lot of help needed. Please help save the lives of these majestic cats by donating your time or money in this wonderful endeavor. I plan on going to Egypt on a regular basis and doing whatever I can to forward this wondrous cause. Please help as much as you can!!

If you are interested in adopting, sponsoring or supporting the Egyptian Maus and EMRO, you will find a variety of ways to do so on this page, too. Simply e-mail us or go to "HOW TO HELP" and learn how to  prevent and save those unique and outstanding creatures from suffering and  extinction.

Best wishes, Sabine.
